I was in a workshop and I just learned something about this...particularly the power of positive thinking and weight loss.
The instructor mentioned that the brain does not recognize words like "will not" but does recognize the action. Saying that "I will not eat sweets" is not effective because the brain recognizes the "eat sweets part" but not the "I will not" part. So in essence we turn our brain and will power against each other. Instead we should put things in a more positive perspective such as "I will eat fruits and vegetables" or "I love to eat fruits and vegetables." This way the brain recognizes the "eat fruits and vegetables" part.
It makes sense once you hear someone explain it that way.
