It's Treat Making Time
It's getting to be that time of year again. The Holidays are just around the corner and the kids are clammering to make those favorite holiday cookies. Instead of heating up your oven and kitchen you might want to try some of these delicious and kid-friendly no-bake cookie treats. I even threw in a couple of no-bake fruitcake recipes. I hope you enjoy them. Have fun and happy cookie making.
Another great thing about these recipes is...they can be used all year long.
No Bake M & M Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup crunchy peanut butter
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup nuts of your choice
1 cup M & M's
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Place milk, sugar and butter in saucepan and bring to a boil.
Boil for 1 minute stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and blend in the rest of the ingredients.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper to cool.
No Bake Peanut Butter Oatmeal Balls
Ingredients:
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 1/2 cup non-fat dry milk granules
4 cups crispy rice cereal
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together.
Shape into small balls.
No Bake Chocolate Balls
Ingredients:
8 oz bakers semi-sweet chocolate baking squares
1/2 cup peanut butter
8 oz conatiner whipped topping
coconut, colored sugar, and sprinkles
Directions:
Melt chocolate in microwave for 30 seconds on high until soft.
Mix in peanut butter.
Fold in whipped topping.
Place mixture in refrigerator for 1 hour to harden.
Form mixture into small balls.
Roll chocolate balls in coconut, colored sugar, and sprinkles for a colorful display.
No Bake Christmas Wreath Cookies
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
3 cups minature marshmallows
1/4 tsp green food coloring
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
5 cups cornflakes
red cinnamon candies
Directions:
Melt butter in microwave for 30 seconds on high.
Add marshmallows and stir until coated with butter.
Microwave for 1 minute.
Sitr and microwave for 1 minute more.
Stir in green food coloring and vanilla extract.
Fold in cornflakes and blend well.
On an ungreased cookie sheet shape into small wreaths.
Decorate wreaths with red cinnamon candies.
No Bake Fruitcake
Ingredients:
3/4 lb butter
1 bag marshmallows
1 box graham cracker crumbs
1 box raisins (1 lb)
1 lb candied cherries
1 lb candied pineapple
1 lb nuts
Directions:
Melt butter and blend in marshmallows until just melted.
Add the rest of the ingredients and pour into buttered loaf pan.
Store in refridgerator overnight before eating.
More No Bake Treats
Now that you have made your no-bake holiday cookies it's time to thinking about making some little finger treats. I'm talking about some Christmas no-bake candy. These little recipes are simple and easy to make. They are perfect to make with you child or grandchild.
Butter Pecan Toffee
Ingredients:
1 stick butter
3/4 cups sugar
1 tbsp. corn syrup
20 tea biscuits
chopped toasted pecans
Instructions:
- Combine butter, sugar and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium heat. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until browned.
- Arrange tea biscuits on a large foil=lined buttered cookie sheet.
- Pour browned sugar mixture over biscuits and sprinkle with chopped toasted pecans.
- Chill until firm. Break into pieces and store in refrigerator.
S'mores Squares
Ingredients:
4 oz. chopped semisweet chocolate
12 graham squares (I use the cinnamon ones)
mini marshmallows
Instructions:
- Melt semi sweet chocolate (you can also use semi-sweet chocolate chips)
- spread on graham cracker squares
- Top with mini marshmallows.
Magic Bars
Magic Bars Melt 1/2 stick butter in a saucepan; add 4 cups mini marshmallows and stir until smooth. Roughly chop 1 sleeve graham crackers and add to the pan along with 1 cup each mini marshmallows, chopped pecans, shredded coconut and chocolate chips. Press into a buttered 9-by-13-inch pan. Let set, then cut into bars.
Ingredients:
1/2 stick butter
4 cups mini marshmallows
1 sleeve graham crackers
1 cup mini marshmallows
1 cup chopped pecans
1cup shredded coconut
1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Melt butter and 4 cups of mini marshmallows stirring until smooth.
- Break-up graham cracker and add them and the rest of the ingredients to the melted marshmallows.
- Press into a buttered 9x13" pan.
- Cool and cut into squares.
