Connecticut is a beautiful state known for its colorful foliage in the fall. There are many Fall Foliage Tours offered at the peak of autumn. They are well worth visiting.

They also have an abundance of place where you can pick your own apples, strawberries, and pumpkins. This is a wonderful experience for children, especially those who live in a city area.

There are wonderfully relaxing for adults and exciting for kids, cruises that take you around legendary pirate hangouts. And there is a wonderful selection of historical homes, lighthouses, museums, covered bridges, Arts and Craft Festivals, and we can't forget Mystic Seaport.

There are State Parks both along the coast and inland that offer a beautiful treed camping spots. They also offer boating and fishing along with boardwalks (along the coast) and many full hook-up camping sites.

Anyone who says there is nothing to do in Connecticut on vacation hasn't looked around. It is one of the best states to go to for relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors.

• Connecticut became home to the first hamburger in 1895.
• The World Wrestling Federation (WWF) is headquartered in Stamford.
• Connecticut became the home of the first Polaroid Camera in 1934.
• The Praying Mantis is the State Insect.
• Connecticut became home of the first color television in 1948.
• Americas first trade association was founded in Naugatuck Valley.
• The first lollipop machine opened for business in 1901 in the state of Connecticut. The lollipop was named after a racehorse.
• Cattle branding in the US began in Connecticut when farmers were required by law to mark their pigs.
• Connecticut because the first state in 1937 to issue a permanent license plate for cars.
• In colonial New Haven cut pumpkins were used as guides for haircuts to ensure a round uniform style. Because of this fashion the New Englanders were named "pumpkin-heads".
• Connecticut 's most important crops are dairy, poultry, forest and nursery, tobacco, vegetable and fruit.
• Connecticut is home to the oldest US newspaper still being published. The Hartford Courant was established in 1764.
• A 7 year old boy, James Thorsell designed the New Hartford "Town Bicentennial Emblem."

•  Old Mystic Village  -  beautiful village with colonial type architecture.  It contains over 40 specialty shops run by local businesspeople.  Stroll through the village on brick sidewalks, leaisurely shop in little specialty shops and admire the surrounding flower gardens.
• Mystic Aquarium  -  Contains many attractions including: Beluga Whales, African Penquins, Jellfish, Nautilus Theater, Sea Lions and Seals, Fish & more (turtles, sea horses, poison dart frogs, and piranha), Challenge of the Deep (what lies on the world's ocean floor)m Deep Sea 3D trheater, and the Marie Theater Shop
• Mystic Seaport Museum  -  This is a wonderful, historic museum.  While you are here you can climb abour historical tall ships, stroll through a recreated 19th centuy coastal village, or watch a working preservation shipyard.  Or you can: visit exhibits and galleries, rent a boat, visit the Treworgy Planetarium or shop and dine in a maritime restaurant.  Attractions especially Especially for kids:  Art Spot, Children's Museum, Discovery Barn, Playscape, and Map Spot.
• Williams Beach Park  -  This beach is worth a visit.  It has a playground for the children, a pavilion, grills, sports field, and a swimming are.  However, there are no lifeguards.
• B. F. Clyde's Cider Mill  -  This attraction is for fall visitors.  The cider mill has more than just apples; it has pumpkins, apples, cider, and wine.  It also has the only steam powered apple press in the country.
