A note about Connecticut
Connecticut is a beautiful state known for its colorful foliage in the fall. There are many Fall Foliage Tours offered at the peak of autumn. They are well worth visiting.
They also have an abundance of place where you can pick your own apples, strawberries, and pumpkins. This is a wonderful experience for children, especially those who live in a city area.
There are wonderfully relaxing for adults and exciting for kids, cruises that take you around legendary pirate hangouts. And there is a wonderful selection of historical homes, lighthouses, museums, covered bridges, Arts and Craft Festivals, and we can't forget Mystic Seaport.
There are State Parks both along the coast and inland that offer a beautiful treed camping spots. They also offer boating and fishing along with boardwalks (along the coast) and many full hook-up camping sites.
Anyone who says there is nothing to do in Connecticut on vacation hasn't looked around. It is one of the best states to go to for relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors.

- In order for a pickle to officially be considered a pickle, it must bounce.
- It is illegal to dispose of used razor blades
- It is illegal to walk backwards after sunset in Devon.
- You can be stopped by the police for biking over 65 miles per hour.
- You aren't allowed to cross a street while walking on your hands in Hartford.
- You may not educate dogs.
- It is illegal for any beautician to hum, whistle, or sing while working on a customer.
- Balloons with advertising on them are illegal in Hartford, Connecticut.
- It's illegal for a fire truck to go faster than 25 MPH even in the event of an emergency.
- A law prohibits people from playing Scrabble while waiting for a politician to speak.
- Only white lights are allowed for display in Guiford.
- It is illegal for a politician to campaign at the town dump in Simsbury.

- In 1728 the first steel mill operating in America was located in Simsbury.
- Connecticut and Rhode never ratified the 18th Amendment (prohibition)
- Connecticut was the 5th state to be admitted to the Union.
- Mary Kies of South Killingly was the first woman to receive a U. S. patent. She received this patent on May 15, 1809 for her method of weaving straw with silk.
- The Torrington Creamery, in Torrengton was the first to successfully distribute homogenized milk. The creamery began sell the product in 1919.
- Connecticut became home to the first hamburger in 1895.
- The World Wrestling Federation (WWF) is headquartered in Stamford.

- Americas first trade association was founded in Naugatuck Valley.
- The first lollipop machine opened for business in 1901 in the state of Connecticut. The lollipop was named after a racehorse.
- Cattle branding in the US began in Connecticut when farmers were required by law to mark their pigs.
- Connecticut because the first state in 1937 to issue a permanent license plate for cars.
- In colonial New Haven cut pumpkins were used as guides for haircuts to ensure a round uniform style. Because of this fashion the New Englanders were named "pumpkin-heads".

- Connecticut is home to the oldest US newspaper still being published. The Hartford Courant was established in 1764.

- Mystic Seaport Museum - This is a wonderful, historic museum. While you are here you can climb abour historical tall ships, stroll through a recreated 19th centuy coastal village, or watch a working preservation shipyard. Or you can: visit exhibits and galleries, rent a boat, visit the Treworgy Planetarium or shop and dine in a maritime restaurant. Attractions especially Especially for kids: Art Spot, Children's Museum, Discovery Barn, Playscape, and Map Spot.
- Williams Beach Park - This beach is worth a visit. It has a playground for the children, a pavilion, grills, sports field, and a swimming are. However, there are no lifeguards.
- B. F. Clyde's Cider Mill - This attraction is for fall visitors. The cider mill has more than just apples; it has pumpkins, apples, cider, and wine. It also has the only steam powered apple press in the country.
